This is a vintage mid-20th century (1940's) hand carved wood statue of the Blessed Virgin of Guadalupe who appeared to Juan Diego during the 15th century. Hand carved and signed by renowned Mexican santero D. Cortes with beautiful patina and very detailed workmanship. It measures 13" H x 6" W x 2" D and weighs 9.4 oz. It is in very good condition with one two ray broken off and hands missing. Colors are gold, red hues, green and black. Absolutely beautiful with a very detailed angel cherub carved in high relief and full flowing vestment. This carvers' hallmark is "Great Detail"!
